The Centre

We are a therapeutic care centre providing in-depth, high quality personal and nursing care plus opportunities for individual development within a caring environment.

We work together with each attending member to produce individual person-centred plans. These also involve working with visiting professionals - physiotherapists, occupational and speech therapists, social workers and advocates. We also work closely with GPs and district nurses.

We have some 40 members who are aged between 18 and 70 years who attend on a daily basis. All having multiple disabilities, most arising from cerebral palsy and related impairments. Our members come from all over Gloucestershire.

In the past year we have extended our reach to more disabled people, including teenagers in main stream schools, by opening the facilities for hire from mid afternoon to mid evening. This has proven to be a great success as the demand for our facilities grows greater.

We have a team of over twenty staff including a nurse, care worker team, art and craft instructor and assistant, cook, administrator and evening activities team. We have a group of drivers and countless volunteers.

Our facilities include a Jacuzzi style hot tub which provides specific health benefits and lots of fun! Our specially adapted computer suite allows full use of computers by disabled people.

We have a well resourced craft room with a craft instructor, an assistant and volunteers. Our members produce a range of high quality craft items and paintings.

A multi-sensory room provides music, aromatherapy, lighting therapy and tactile experiences, all in a calming, quiet environment. This facility is of great benefit to our members who often have limited sensory experiences in day to day life.

Our members can experience a safe full standing experience with our sophisticated standing frame.

We have special hoists and bathing facilities and offer full personal and nursing care, including hair care, showering and bathing which is often essential for members who are living at home.
