Life in the Craft Room
The craft room has had yet another busy and fulfilling year. A different mix of members each day means that life is never predictable.
Those who know the craft room will have seen various projects in the process of completion. It is my aim that at least one major art work per participating member is continually being worked on while other fun pieces keep them on their toes, and increase their capacity for learning.
Art for me, in all its forms, is a constant source of delight and to have the opportunity to pass on this enjoyment and the accompanying skills to eager minds is so thrilling. My approach is that all things are possible given the right conditions and endless patience.
Learning at any level should through enjoyment and in the craft room an atmosphere of concentration is balanced by the fragrance candles, tempting treats such as sweets and biscuits and the closeness of good friends.
Getting a members’ trust so that he or she is willing to be pushed beyond their normal parameters takes time.

People are allowed to shine and receive praise, sometimes for the first time in their lives. The difference this makes shows itself in newly gained confidence.
Each piece of art has a value beyond price and is displayed both in the art room and in our wonderful display cabinets in the foyer. This year has already seen many new projects underway, so watch this space…!
